Artist in Residence Pilot Program

We have developed an Artist in Residence pilot program that forms a partnership between an under-resourced, Denver-area church and Transforming Creatives. The program provides strategic creative capacity, art installations and workshops, arts team chaplaincy services, access to our artist network, volunteer creative team development and more.

The goal of the program is to develop a sustainable model of partnership between small churches and the broader arts community that benefits both.

Impacts will include:

• An increase in neighborhood outreach opportunities and support of existing outreach programs

• A significant expansion of the church's capacity for artist development and creative programming

• One-on-one mentoring and soul care support for church artists deepening their spiritual formation

• Connecting local artists to the community work of a local church and compensating them for their participation

The initial pilot ran from July-December 2023, and we provided creative support and artist care services FREE to two, small Denver churches who are doing great missional work in the city. Neither church was able to afford arts staff but recognized the power of the arts to both create transcendent experiences that connect people to the Divine and support personal transformation.

We are currently raising the necessary funds to support additional under-resourced churches. The cost of this program is approximately $15,000 for six months of support, and we can only deliver it with the help of our community of supporters.
